Since 1998, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series runners have raised over $310 million for its various charity partners.
Next weekend, July 18th and 19th, runners will be racing for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the V Foundation. The goal is to raise $10 million this year, and you can help!

Come out to the 4th annual Burgers & Beer 5K at Soldier Field on Monday, July 13th!
Is there a better way to unwind after a Monday back at work than by doing a 5K to raise funds for Special Olympics Chicago with refreshments from Goose Island beer and Billy Goat burgers? No. No, there is not. There will even be vegan options if that’s what you’re into!

– If you’re going to the Blackhawks Convention on July 17th, 18th, or 19th, stop by the Rags of Honor table to pick up a T-shirt! Rags of Honor hires homeless and unemployed veterans, and gives them the skills they need to get back to work! (Learn more about them from last week’s show.) You can also see Rags of Honor founder Mark Doyle and his band The Ramova Brothers TONIGHT, July 12th at Martyrs’, 3855 N. Lincoln at 6:00 pm. Your $20 admission will benefit the Rags of Honor 1 Foundation.
– Hang with Lisa Dent at the PAWS Chicago Beach Party on Thursday, July 23rd at Castaways on North Avenue Beach from 6:00 – 10:00pm. Enjoy cocktails, auction and raffle prizes, dancing, and doggies! – The 5th annual Imerman Angels Golf Outing is also on Thursday, July 23rd at the Harborside Internaional Golf Center. Come out for an afternoon of golf, lunch, games, prizes, and auction items. Imerman Angels provides one-on-one support for cancer patients, their survivors, and caregivers. Tickets are $250, benefitting Imerman Angels and the services they provide to cancer patients. – Heartland Animal Shelter is hosting their 9th annual Walk of Love on Saturday, July 25th at 9:30 in the morning at the Blue Star Memorial Woods Forest Preserve in Glenview, right by Lake and Harms. It’s a 2K walk, with breakfast, puppy pools, and a pet caricaturist. Tickets are $25, benefiting the animals at Heartland, a no-kill animal shelter in Northbrook.
